Mad River Field trip: Day 7

... and back again

I haven't recorded anything for today, so it's just going off memory.

At 6:30 Mr Sarkar came into the room and woke me up. I realised that the other 3 beds were empty, I had no idea why.
Our room was sorta a mess, so I got up and started make sure all my stuff was packed. After getting myself organised I started to clean the room. I used a towel to sweep out a lot of the sand, and the bucket as a second bin. I ended filling the bucket as well with all the trash we had around the place.
The guys came back at around 7:15. I let them get their bags ready and put away stuff as I took my bag down to the dock.

At the start of the day I was feeling a bit better. At breakfast I ate a fair bit. After the meal we all said thank you to the staff there.
After that I went back to the room to make sure everything was done and clean.

At about 8 my headache came back and I started to feel worse so I got some more meds.
I went and gave the manager of the hotel a tip for 502 rupee. I appreciated the kindness they gave me, even when I was sick.
Then at 9 we started going on boats that took us to the bus stop. This time I went in an open boat and there were no spiders to be seen.

Good bye hotel
We arrived at the bus stop, put our bags in and I went on. This time I did take travel meds. At first I read a bit, then tried to sleep. Everyone else in the bus was completely out of it, I was probably the only one with a good nights sleep.

So the bus trip passed on by. We managed to watch Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer once people were awake. We passed the place where before I had seen all the nice waterfalls. There wasn't any there now and it looked like just another valley.

The plan was to have lunch in Thekkady again, but this time at a more expensive Chinese restaurant. We went it and walked to the restaurant, but it was closed. We were very disappointed. The Orchid restaurant wasn't far away, so we walked there and enjoyed lunch there again. I ordered the same as last time (sweet and sour chicken with fried rice). There was a lot of trouble with the orders and some people on out table didn't get the right food till 30 after they ordered.
At about 3 we got back on the road. Much more sleeping was done by people. After some problems with the movies, we managed to get Green Lantern (a super hero movie) going. It was pleasant watching for about an hour before the movie was cut. There really wasn't much else to do except sleep. I managed to do a bit of that, but I still felt sick and had my window open a lot of the time.

I asked for some travel meds at 4, but waited a bit before I used them because we were still going along the plains.

At around 6 or 7 we began our ascent to Kodai. I survived the turns this time and arrived back to school at 9:30.
Ignoring the fact that I hadn't eaten dinner I went back to dorm, unpacked a bit and went to sleep around 11.

The following morning I felt a bit better, but my digestive system had a fair way to go before being back to normal.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the Mad River Field trip.

Overall it was a lot of fun. Compared to other trips it was lack-luster in the number of activities we did, but a great experience for me none the less.
It was also a nice time of reflection, and I did a fair bit of thinking about stuff.

One of those things I thought about was how I will remember this trip. That's why I wanted to write this trip down in such detail. Also, I though you might find something entertaining (I hope you did).

It took on average an hour and a half to write up about each of these days. I'm exhausted, seeya later.
