A taste of luxury leaves us drooling
It was 8:05 when I awoke. Realising that breakfast might have already started I got ready and was down at the dining room by 8:20. Breakfast indeed had not been served so I went out and looked at the river for a while.
I came back after 10 minutes and they were serving the masala omelet's again (phew).
After going back to the room and completing the routine of slip-slop-slap we all went down to the boats... and waited for 15 minutes.
No one turned up so we went back to the hotel and lay in someone else's room for 20 minutes.
We went back down at 9:50 and found people there, so I got in a canoe with Vidyuth and Shivang again and started to paddle. This time going to the right of the hotel, not the left like the other days.
Together we rowed until 11:15. Which was when we arrived at a very nice hotel. We all got off and started to look around.
We all were amazed by how luxurious everything looked inside. After spending 4 days in a hotel just down the river, we all wanted to stay here. I was amazed at the fact that in this area of villages, there's a 4.5 star hotel plonked by the river.
They gave us a bit of a tour around the main facilities. When we came to the pool everyone wanted to jump in, some people were 'accidentally' pushed in. They showed us a room that included a private swimming pool, all for around 25,000 rupee per night. Our dropped jaws constantly got pulled up by Mr Irfan, saying that it was too expensive. I'm sure some people on this trip could afford it.
People got back into the boats, and the rest got on the big boat. So we started to travel back to the hotel. My hands were terrible sore whilst sitting on the boat. When canoeing you don't notice the pain, but then in the boat it really kills.
We arrived back at the hotel at 12:50.
I went back to the room and rested till lunch at 1:30.
Lunch consisted of fish curry and some other things that I have now forgotten since I didn't write them down. I probably didn't know the names of them anyway.
After lunch was some more down time to relax and write reflections on the previous days. That's when my notes became very useful. Time flies and it's nearly impossible to remember what you did on a certain day. I found that for my reflections I put in too much detail and frequently only write about from breakfast till lunch. Well, it's a lot easier than being to brief and not knowing what to do to fill the remaining space.
The rest of the guys in my room just relaxed and played head soccer till 3:40.
At 3:45 we all got onto the big boat. We were going to see a historic church and see what it was like. It was a 45 minute journey that I spent reading.
When we got there the people inside were doing prayers. It seemed like a very catholic service. Some of us took our shoes off and went to sit at the back. I wanted to show you want it looked like, it was pretty spectacular to me.

I've had very little experience with church's in India, so it was nice to experience it a bit (though I was out of my comfort zone in terms of style of service). Not to mention that I didn't know what they were saying. They might have even said "Thank you Lord for these school children who have come to our church today, and the racket they are making outside."
After having a look inside, we went around the rest of the grounds that the church was on. This included seeing what may have been the original chapel, built in... (I can't remember, sorry). It was either 432 or 1412. Either way it was pretty old and pretty cool.
We also had a look through the church graveyard, playing the usual game of trying to find the oldest grave.
The Church was also undergoing some construction work. I don't know if it was repairs or renovations, but it did make for a nice picture.
After seeing the Church we ventured into the shops that were outside it. People were moving all along buy strange foods. I felt quite overwhelmed. Shopping was never my forte, and I've had little experience buy in India. Instead of going for different foods, I bought some chips, a snickers and some Cadbury chocolate.
Other people had bought A LOT of stuff, so we all got on the top of the boat and ate the meal together.
Everyone was sharing, one person bought me an icecream. After a while I thought something wasn't right with it...
We ate food all the way back to the hotel, there was still many left overs that people finished later on.
The sunset wasn't bad either.
We arrived back at the hotel at 6:30. Showered and relaxed.
Dinner was at 8:20. It included non-spicy chicken curry (yay). Vishnu complained that it was too dull though.
After dinner was back to the room and I lay rested whilst listening to music.
Many people kept coming into our room and talking. There was also problems finding a computer to watch a movie on.
Eventually it all quietened down around 10:30, and we were deciding on which film to watch.
Then the person who owned the computer came and wanted it back.
I went to bed, read a bit and tried thinking of anything to do. Decided that there was nothing to do and went to sleep at 11:45.
Resuming onto day 6 in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... (boop)
